Structure before process
Most work doesn't arrive as a clearly defined problem. It arrives as frustration, missed deadlines, or conflicting opinions. Before building a solution, I make sure everyone agrees on what is actually happening. Once the problem is clear, the right process usually becomes obvious.
Ownership before process
When work keeps stalling, the issue is often unclear ownership rather than a lack of effort. Adding meetings or documentation rarely fixes that. Defining who owns the outcome creates accountability, speeds up decisions, and keeps work moving.
Look for signals early
Operational problems rarely appear overnight. They start as recurring questions, growing queues, or small issues that no one owns. I look for those early signals, make them visible, and establish a simple rhythm for reviewing them before they become costly escalations.
How I work
I simplify systems instead of adding more process. A good outcome usually leaves the workflow shorter than I found it.
The full approachReady to untangle?
I take on full-time operations and program leadership roles, plus a small number of consulting engagements where the first task is figuring out what the real problem is.
